Class 10 Physics students under the Punjab boards now have the official 2025 pairing scheme to plan their board exam preparation. It applies to BISE Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Sahiwal, Multan, Bahawalpur, and Dera Ghazi Khan, plus the Azad Kashmir board, and shows how marks are split across chapters 10 to 18 in the Physics theory paper.
Instead of studying every chapter equally, use this scheme to see which chapters carry more MCQs, how the short questions are grouped across Questions 2, 3 and 4, and which chapters are paired in the long questions — so your revision time goes where the marks actually are before the exam.

Exam Pattern Breakdown
MCQs — 12 Marks
| Chapter | MCQs | Chapter | MCQs | Chapter | MCQs |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | 1 | 13 | 1 | 16 | 2 |
| 11 | 1 | 14 | 2 | 17 | 1 |
| 12 | 2 | 15 | 1 | 18 | 1 |
9 MCQs come from exercise questions and 3 are additional (out-of-exercise).
Short Questions — 30 Marks (Attempt any 5 out of 8 in each)
| Q.2 – Chapter | Qs | Q.3 – Chapter | Qs | Q.4 – Chapter | Qs |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | 3 | 11 | 3 | 12 | 3 |
| 13 | 3 | 14 | 3 | 15 | 3 |
| 16 | 2 | 17 | 2 | 18 | 2 |
Qs = number of questions offered from that chapter (students attempt any 5 of the 8 offered).
Long Questions — 18 Marks (Attempt 2 out of 3)
| Question 5 | Question 6 | Question 7 |
|---|---|---|
| Ch 10, 13 & 16 | Ch 11, 14 & 17 | Ch 12, 15 & 18 |
Each long question has parts (a) and (b) drawn from the three chapters shown; any two of those three chapters will be paired in the exam. Either part may be a numerical or a theory question, and this can differ across boards.
Important Things to Know
- Chapters 12, 14 and 16 carry the most MCQ and short-question weight — give them extra revision time.
- In the long questions, both parts (a) and (b) can be numerical, both theory, or one of each; the exact pairing can vary by board.
- The 2025 paper follows the SLO-based pattern, so it differs a little from older papers; even so, around 90% of this scheme is expected to hold.
- This scheme is built around Punjab boards. Prepare all chapters fully rather than relying on the scheme alone.
