Mathematics Class 11 Smart Syllabus 2027 (Punjab Boards): Deleted Topics and Paper Pattern

Official status: Notified by PECTAA on 6 November 2026 (No. PECTAA/C&C Unit/2026/1239) for the 2026-27 session and the BISE Annual Examination 2027 of all nine Punjab boards. Official PDF (pectaa.edu.pk)

PECTAA has reduced the Mathematics Class 11 (FSc / ICS Part 1) syllabus for the 2027 board exams under its Smart Syllabus, also called the Accelerated Learning Programme (ALP). This page lists, unit by unit, exactly what has been removed, which units are complete, and how the 2027 paper will be made. It follows the new Mathematics-11 textbook (2025-26 edition, National Curriculum 2023), so page numbers refer to that book.

Quick summary

  • Unit 8 (Mathematical Induction and Binomial Theorem) is completely removed.
  • Units 5 (Partial Fractions) and 9 (Division of Polynomials) are complete; nothing is removed from them.
  • From the other 11 units, mostly the “real world” application sections and some exercise questions are removed.
  • The paper is still 100 marks, 3 hours, and questions can come from everything that has not been removed.

Paper pattern for 2027

Total: 100 marks (Objective 20 + Subjective 80). Time: 3 hours (Objective 30 minutes + Subjective 2 hours 30 minutes).

Objective part: 20 MCQs (20 marks)

Subjective Part I: short questions (50 marks)

Q411 (2), 12 (3), 13 (4), 14 (4)9 out of 1318

The number in brackets is how many short questions come from that unit. Each short question carries 2 marks.

Subjective Part II: long questions (30 marks)

Five long questions are given and you attempt any three. Each has two parts, (a) and (b), of 5 marks each.

Q6Unit 4Unit 5 or Unit 9

Q9Unit 13Unit 14

How to use this for preparation

  • Cross out the deleted sections and exercise questions in your textbook first, so you do not spend time on them.
  • Units 1, 4, 6, 13 and 14 carry the most short questions and each has its own long question. Give them the most time.
  • Unit 11 appears only in MCQs and short questions (no long question is set from it), so focus on definitions, values and short results there.
  • Units 5 and 9 are complete and share one long question (Q6 b), so prepare both fully.
  • Practise past papers, but skip any question that comes from a deleted topic.

Is Binomial Theorem in the Class 11 Maths syllabus for 2027?

No. Unit 8, Mathematical Induction and Binomial Theorem, has been removed completely for the 2027 annual exam.

Does this smart syllabus apply to all Punjab boards?

Yes. The notification applies to all nine Punjab BISEs: Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur.

Is it the same for FSc and ICS?

Yes. Both use the same Mathematics-11 textbook, so the same smart syllabus applies.
