Paper pattern for 2027
Written paper: 60 marks (Objective 12 + Subjective 48). Time: 2 hours (Objective 15 minutes + Subjective 1 hour 45 minutes). Practical marks are separate.
Objective part: 12 MCQs (12 marks)
| Chapter | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| MCQs | 1 | 1 | 2 | 2 | 1 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 1 |
Short questions (30 marks)
| Question | Chapters covered | Attempt | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Q2 | 1 (3), 2 (2), 3 (3) | 5 out of 8 | 10 |
| Q3 | 4 (3), 5 (3), 6 (2) | 5 out of 8 | 10 |
| Q4 | 7 (3), 8 (3), 9 (2) | 5 out of 8 | 10 |
The number in brackets is how many short questions come from that chapter. Each short question carries 2 marks.
Long questions (18 marks)
Three long questions are given and you attempt any two, 9 marks each. Each has part (a) of 4 marks and part (b) of 5 marks, and the two parts come from different chapters of the group shown below.
| Question | Chapters the question is set from |
|---|---|
| Q5 | Chapters 1, 2 and 3 |
| Q6 | Chapters 4, 5 and 6 |
| Q7 | Chapters 7, 8 and 9 |
How to use this for preparation
- Mark the deleted sections and exercise items in your book first. Chapters 6 and 7 lose many CRQs, so check them carefully.
- Chapters 3, 4 and 6 give two MCQs each; chapters 1, 3, 4, 5, 7 and 8 give three short questions each.
- Each long question covers a group of three chapters, so you cannot skip a whole group.
- Practise the remaining numericals of each chapter, since many have been removed.
