1st Year (Class 11) Urdu students under the Punjab boards now have the official 2025 pairing scheme for their board exams. It covers BISE Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Sahiwal, Multan, Bahawalpur, and Dera Ghazi Khan, along with the Azad Kashmir board, and lays out the exact 100-mark paper across prose, poetry, ghazal, grammar and composition.
Intermediate Urdu adds literary terminology (Qafiya, Radeef, Isteara and more) on top of the prose/poetry/ghazal pattern from school, plus heavier writing questions like precis and dialogue. This scheme lists every part with its marks and source — so your revision covers the full paper.

Important Things to Know
- Literary terminology (Qafiya, Radeef, Isteara etc.) is worth 10 of the 20 objective marks — don’t skip this topic just because it feels abstract.
- Q.3 (paragraph explanation, 15 marks) is the heaviest single question — practice explaining paragraphs with reference to context, not just summarizing them.
- Q.2 splits between Poem and Ghazal explanation — prepare couplets from both, not just one.
- This scheme is built around Punjab boards. Prepare all prose, poetry and grammar sections fully rather than relying on the scheme alone.
