The book’s longest chapter drills all twelve tense forms in both active and passive voice, Present, Past, and Future, each in Indefinite, Continuous, Perfect, and Perfect Continuous, through model sentences and Urdu-to-English exercises. Its closing section is a dedicated block of 40 numbered Urdu paragraphs, each tagged with a real exam board and year, such as Lahore Board 1980 and Multan Board 1976, for full-paragraph translation practice, which is exactly the Class 10 exam format.

Important Questions:

  • What kind of translation exercises make up the chapter’s final section, and what are they tagged with? Forty full Urdu paragraphs to translate into English, each tagged with a real exam board and year, such as Sargodha Board or Bahawalpur Board.

Chapter 4: Parts of Speech

This chapter covers all eight parts of speech, Noun, Pronoun, Adjective, Article, Preposition, Verb, Conjunction, and Interjection, then adds two sections that are central to the Class 10 exam. Direct and Indirect Speech explains quoting a speaker’s exact words versus reporting them, through seven numbered rules covering tense backshift, pronoun changes, and reporting questions and commands. Pair of Words covers 78 easily confused word pairs, such as affect/effect and principal/principle, each with a model sentence.

Important Questions:

  • Change into indirect speech: He said, ‘I am unwell.’ He said that he was unwell.
  • What happens to ‘today’ and ‘tomorrow’ when converting direct speech into indirect speech? ‘Today’ changes to ‘that day’ and ‘tomorrow’ changes to ‘the next day’.
  • Give the correct word from the pair ‘affect/effect’ to complete: The medicine had a strong ___ on him. Effect.
